At the outbreak of the war was garrisoned in India and landed in East Africa on the 16th October 1914. He was discharged with the award of the Silver War Badge on the 23rd January 1919. He served in France and was reported wounded on the 31st July 1918 having suffered a Gunshot wound to the right shoulder. He was discharged on the 20th December 1919. His next of kin was given as living in Newtown Wales.
