A good original First World War period 'Silver War Badge official issue number 'B236966' awarded to '40884 Private Albert John Bankes'; unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings.

40884 Private Albert John Bankes enlisted into the 1st Bn South Staffordshire Regiment on the 28th August 1916. After service overseas he was discharged on the 14th March 1919, having been awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
