1914 National Volunteer Reserve emergency force badge
A good original First World War period 'National Volunteer Reserve badge'; gilt brass blue enamel strap, the centre with red enamel 'NVR 1914' logo on gilt seeded ground, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'W.J.Carroll London'. Very good condition, complete with buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright, Height 30mm.
Formed nationwide in 1914 in the event of invasion to provide an emergency force from trained men under 45 years old, who were unable to serve in any of his Majesty's Forces due to bad eyesight or the
necessity to provide for dependants.
