Overseas Nursing Association 1896 bronze nurses hospital badge
A good original pre -1966 small pattern 'Overseas Nursing Association bronze nurses badge, the fretted centre depicting a seated 'Britannia' within an oval title surround, suspended from an ornate oak leaf decorated bar. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings.
Height 47mm.
Founded in 1896 by Lady Piggott as the 'Colonial Nursing Association' to provide trained nurses for the British Colonies and the small British communities abroad. Renamed the 'Overseas Nursing Association' in 1919. Closed on 1 December 1966.
