Womens Voluntary Services ARP Air Raid Precautions badge
A scarce original circa 1938 to February 1939 short lived period 'ARP Women's Voluntary Services home front pin badge'; chromium plated example inlaid with red enamel, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'H.B.Sale B'Ham'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height 29mm.
The 'ARP Women's Voluntary Services' for Air Raid Precautions was established in 1938 to prepare for the onset of war. By February 1939 the title was amended to 'Women's Voluntary Services for Civil Defence'
They assisted during the 1939 evacuation and eventually involved themselves in most aspects of the home front war effort.
