Girl Guides Star of Merit Meritorious Conduct Award Instituted 1965

A rare original 'Girl Guides Star of Merit medal award badge'; gilt five pointed star inlaid with blue enamel, suspended from a navy blue ribbon with gold edges and suspended from blue enamel bar; the reverse inscribed to the recipient 'KATHRYN BOND 1.6.1978. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings.
Height approx 93mm.
The Girl Guides Star of Merit was awarded to any member of the Movement, who without risk to her own life had shown initiative and devotion to duty, or
displayed great courage or fortitude, often under suffering. It is ranked just below a Gallantry award.
