Somerset Special Constabulary Red Enamel Wyvern Shield Badge

A very scarce original post 1930's period 'Somerset Special Constabulary badge' possibly issued to Sergeants, in the form of a large gilt brass title circlet inlaid with blue enamel, the central shield displaying an embossed red enamel Wyvern holding a Mace; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no stress marks or enamel loss, gilt finish remains
