WW2 Observer Corps qualification lapel and cap badge

A scarce original wartime pre 1941 silver plated badge with pale blue enamel circlet inscribed 'Forewarned is Forearmed Observer Corps', the centre depicting an Elizabethan coastwatcher holding a flaming torch and scanning the horizon, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'PHILLIPS ALDERSHOT'. Very good condition, complete original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.
Diameter approx 27mm.
The 'Observer Corps' was awarded the title 'Royal' by His Majesty King George VI in April 1941, in recognition of service carried out by Observer Corps personnel during the Battle of Britain.
