A rare original 'Ulster Signal & Despatch Riders Corps pin badge'; gilt brass Union Flag shield inlaid with red, white and blue enamel, bearing crossed flags with 'Talaria of Mercury' messenger god winged foot above and Union spray of rose, shamrock and thistle below, bearing the scrolls 'U.S & D.R.C.' and FOR GOD & ULSTER; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'SH.D.NEILL LTD BELFAST' (Sharman D.Neill of Belfast Ireland). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or enamel loss, some unknown engraved initials to reverse.
