Women's Forestry Service Commission Badge H.W.Miller
A scarce original hard to find Second World War circa 1940 period 'Womens Forestry Service land worker's pin badge'; chromium plated example in the form of green enamel Crowned laurel sprays with white enamel 'Women's Forestry Service' title strap, the centre bearing King George VI cypher (1936 - 1952) to centre on green enamel ground, with white enamel ribbon scroll below 'Forestry Commission'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'H.W.MILLER Ltd B'HAM.18'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height approx 30mm.
Women's Forestry Service was originally established in the First World War it fulfilled that role and became the 'Timber Corps', from 1940 the Forestry Commission started recruiting women for the timber industry, which
was absorbed by the Timber Corps in 1942.
