S S Avoceta Yeoward Line ships wheel badge Sunk by torpedo 1941

A rare original circa 1922 to 1941 period 'S.S. Avoceta gilt and enamel pin brooch', the 'Yeoward Line Shipping Company' enamelled flag mounted to the centre of a ship's wheel. Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, minor stress lines to the enamel company flag.
Diameter approx 27mm.
S.S. Avoceta was launched in September 1922, during the Second World War she was sunk by a torpedo from the German U-Boat 203 on the 25th September 1941.
