WW1 Volunteer War Workers officially numbered badge by J.R.Gaunt

A good original First World War period Crowned 'VW' Volunteer Workers bronzed brass pin badge, the reverse with embossed maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London' and impressed with official issue number '61855'. Very good condition, complete with original substantial pin fittings.
Height approx 31mm.

In 1940 a similar badge was approved by the War Office although the use of the Crown was refused and 'For the Forces' added, the badge was in chrome and enamel.
