1886 Sandown Park gentlemans horse racing club badge

A rare original Victorian period gentlemans '1886 Sandown Park horse racing club membership badge'; superb gilt and enamel example the voided centre bearing a representation of the sun with ribbon scroll insribed 'ECLIPSE'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Lewis Jeweller 172 New Bond St. W' and impressed with official issue number '2617'. Very good condition, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
Height approx 50mm.
A total Solar Eclipse occurred at the Moon's ascending node of orbit on Sunday 29th 1886.
