The Fountain Hospital nurses badge Tooting Grove, London

A scarce original circa 1948 -1963 short lived period 'Fountain Hospital for mentally handicapped childre pin badge'; well designed large chromium plated example, depicting a young girl holding a tortoise on blue translucent ground with red enamel ribbon title scroll below. Very good condition complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height approx 39mm.
In 1948 the Hospital joined the National Health Service when it became the Fountain Hospital, it closed in March 1963.
