Royal Navy HMS Dauntless 1916 Hollow Silver Anchor Brooch

A rare original First World War period 'H.M.S. Dauntless pin badge, in the form of a hollow silver anchor with an applied curved title scroll the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1916 and maker's details 'A.Bros' (Ahronsberg Brothers Birmingham). Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no dents or distortions, minor service wear.
Length approx 36mm.
HMS Dauntless was chosen in 1923, along with her sisters Danae, Delhi, Dragon and Dunedin, for the Empire Cruise of the Special Service Squadron, representing the most modern and most powerful cruisers of the Royal Navy, as escorts to the battlecruisers Hood and Repulse.
