A rare original circa 1950's period 'National Federation of the Women's Institutes WI Handicrafts Guild proficiency badge'; silver plated suspension bar bearing 'HG' igreen enamel cypher from which depends a blue silk ribbon bearing blue enamel proficiency bar 'RUG MAKING A.' (1st Class). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect.
Height approx 57mm.
‘The Guild of Learners of Handicrafts’ was founded in 1920's, its name was changed to 'The Handicraft Guild'
in circa 1950's.
