A very scarce original memento from the '1951 Festival of Britain National Exhibition'; chromium plated example in the form of a rocket style symbol named the 'Skylon' resting on a white enamel dome base with two crossed red enamel flags inscribed 1951 and blue enamel title below. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.

The Skylon was a futuristic-looking large steel structure built in 1951 for the Festival of Britain, located by the River Thames in London it gave the illusion of floating above the ground. It was removed in 1952 when the rest of the exhibition was dismantled.
