The Women's Legion bronze winged Victory badge post 1934

A very scarce original post 1934 short lived 2nd pattern issue 'Womens Legion uniform cap badge'; large die-stamped bronzed laurel sprays resting on Laitin scroll 'ORA ET LABORA' (pray and work) joined at the top by 'WL' with rose on each side of the laurel; winged figure on Globe to voided centre. Very good condition, compete with original substantial pin fittings.
Height approx 43mm.
Prior to to the outbreak of the Second World War the activities of the Women's Legion was renewed and an important new Flying Section was formed. Amy Johnson was a member as were many other well-known women pilots, most of whom were members of the 'Air Transport Auxiliary. The badge was redesigned and the figure of Victory now with Wings standing upon a globe.
