WW1 Battle of Lille French Town Crest pin badge
A scarce original First World War period battle brooch, ornate gilt blue enamel horseshoe title surmounted by castle turrets, the voided centre with red enamel shield bearing fleur-de-lis Coat of Arms. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height approx 27mm.
The French Town City of Lille occupation by the Germans began on 13 October 1914 after a ten-day siege and heavy shelling. It was liberated by the Allies on 17 October 1918.
