A scarce original early First World War period 'On War Service numbered identification badge'; large circular gilt brass example, the top surmounted by a Rose, Thistle and Shamrock the united emblems of England, Scotland and Ireland; the centre with red enamel crescent and initials 'BM&Co' within a blue enamel title surround 'Brunner Mond & Co Ltd Making War Material'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'T. Fattorini Bolton' and 'Reg 638232' a registered, design and patent date of 1914 and complete with official issue number '2108'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
