YMCA British Boys for British Farms formed in 1932 was seen as a means of introducing unemployed young boys from towns to the way of life in the countryside and to boost the country’s agricultural production both before, during, and after the Second World War. It was supported by the National Farmers Union, the War Agricultural Committee, and the Ministries of Agriculture and Labour. The scheme ended in 1968.
