A rare original wartime period 'Foden Ltd Spitfire fundraisers pin badge' small white metal example worn to raise funds to buy Royal Air Force RAF fighter plane during Second World War. Good condition, complete with original pin fittings.
Wingspan approx 23mm.
In November 1940 Foden Truck factory near Sandbach, Cheshire, began their Foden Spitfire Fund, which proved popular not only with the factory workers but the local community, with Whist Drives, dances and the novel collecting boxes in the form of a nose cap from a German Bomb. The spitfire is impressed with stylised logo of the Foden Company.
