A good original early period 'British Red Cross Society hat badge'; enamel shield bearing red cross within a gilt title surround, tri-part Latin scroll below 'INTER ARMA CARITAS' (In War, Charity). Very good condition, retaining scarce two loop fittings and split pin, no damage to the enamel.
