FYFFES Blue Lapel Brand Bananas Advertising Cap Badge by L.Simpson & Co
A rare original post 1929 period 'Fyffes Blue Lapel Bananas promotional cap badge'; large brass lightly silvered oval inlaid with blue enamel; the reverse impressed with early maker's details 'L.SIMSON & Co. 56 YORK Rd LONDON'. Very good condition, complete with original two loop fittings and split pin, no enamel loss, minor wear to slver plated finish.
Size approx 45 x 32mm.
Fyffes Blue Lapel was founded in 1929.
They became Fyffes Group Ltd in 1969.
After World War II on the 30th December 1945 the Fyffes S.S. Tilapa steam ship brought the first commercial shipment of 10 million bananas into the UK. The government proclaims that all the bananas should go to the children so that the new generation would get their first taste of this exotic tropical fruit.
