Cook's World Travel Service Interpreter Promotional Badge Est: 1841
A rare original circa 1930's 'Cook's World Travel Service advertising pin badge'; a very large well designed splendid exampe in the form of a gilt blue and white enamel shell, bearing a Globe to the centre within title surround 'EST: 1841' 'COOK'S WORLD TRAVEL SERVICE' surmounted by a winged helmet symbolism, relating to Hermes the 'GOD OF TRAVEL' with INTERPRETER' title below. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect, gilt finish remains bright, an excellent example.
Height approx 61mm.
Founded by Thomas Cook 1841 in Leicester, England. In 1871 the name was changed to 'Thomas Cook & Son' who became one of the biggest travel agent in the world.
