RMS Empress of Ireland hand-painted enamel picture brooch

A rare original circa 1906 to 1914 period 'R.M.S. Empress of Ireland shipping line pin badge'; ornate gilt heart set with five turquoise stones, the central disc bearing a hand painted representation of the Canadian Pacific steamship. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, an excellent example.
Height approx 26mm.
The R.M.S. Empress of Ireland was built for the 'Canadian Pacific Steamship Company' by 'Fairfield Shipbuilding & Eng Co Govan' and was launched in 1906. She sank after a collision with SS Storstad on 29 May 1914.
