The College of Nursing silver nurses badge

A good original pre 1939 'College of Nursing silver and enamel badge', the reverse impressed 'STERLING SILVER', maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London', 'Rd No 674755 (a registration, design and patent date of 1920) and official issue number '26140'. Very good clean condition, complete with original pin fittings with safety roller catch in good working order, no enamel loss, an excellent example.
Height approx 36mm.
The College of Nursing was founded in 1916. The name was changed to the Royal College of Nursing in 1939. Since 1977 the RCN has also been registered as a trade union.
