8th Battalion Tank Corps pin badge

A scarce original circa First World War period 'Tank Corps badge' possibly for fund raising, in the form of a gilt convex disc inlaid with black enamel, the centre depicting a First World War gilt tank with '8' impressed to the side. Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting with running repair to the pin shank, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
Diameter approx 27mm.
The 'Tank Corps' was formed in July 1917 from the 'Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps' it became 'Royal' in 1924.
