A good original circa 1940's period 'Pea-Nut Club fundraising official's pin badge'; blue enamel gilt suspension bar, supportiing a orange enamel unshelled peanut. Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, no defect to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
Height approx 23mm.
The Pea-nut Club was formed during the Second World War to support the 'Guinea Pig Club' established in 1941 by Sir Archibald McIndoe at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, Sussex, the Plastic Surgeon who rebuilt the faces of Royal Air Force servicemen burnt in action.
