Royal Sovereign General Steam Navigation passenger ships wheel badge 1948 - 1967
A good original circa 1960's period 'ROYAL SOVEREIGN souvenir pin badge'; large chromium plated ships wheel, mounted with an enamel title crest depicting the passenger ship sailing up the River Thames about to go under 'Tower Bridge'. Very good condition, complete with its original pin fitting, no damage to the enamel, minimal wear to chromiun finish.
Height 40mm.
Royal Sovereign completed her maiden voyage in 1948, sailing from Tower Pier, London to Ramsgate, with visits to Tilbury, Southend and Margate. In 1967 the ship was sold to Townsend Brothers and converted to carry a maximum of twenty four lorries between Dover & Zeebrugge and was renamed Autocarrier.
