Vauxhall Motors Ltd Spitfire Fund Shareholder presentation badge

A very scarce original Second World War period 'Spitfire fundraising badge' depicting a Spitfire fighter aircraft within a cloud, inlaid with blue enamel with 'SHAREHOLDER scroll below; the reverse impressed in relief 'Vauxhall - Bedford'. Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, pin an old replacement, no damage to the enamel and no trace of lightly silvered finish.

An advertisement that appeared in the Biggleswade Chronicle - Friday 27 September 1940 :

THE VAUXHALL MOTORS LTD. SPITFIRE FUND is now extended to VAUXHALL and BEDFORD OWNERS in order to swell the £4,000 ALREADY SUBSCRIBED to the price of a Spitfire.
SHAREHOLDER BADGES are issued to the public who subscribe A Black and Gold Badge for contributions of £1 and upwards. Black and Silver for contributions between 10/- and 19/11, Blue and Silver for contributions between 2/6 and 9/11.
