A good original circa 1968 period 'King of Brands 1968 motorcycle racing pin badge'; chromium plated CROWN inscribed '1968' inlaid with red and black enamel, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'AVIAKIT'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no defects to the enamel, minimal service wear.
Height 26mm.
At Brands Hatch racing circuit, the Portobello Straight was renamed Derek Minter Straight. So successful and popular was Minter at Brands Hatch that commentator Murray Walker referred to him as "The King of Brands", an unofficial title which later became the name of an actual competitive meeting at the circuit.
