RNXS Royal Naval Auxiliary Service Lapel Badge
A good original Cold War period 'Royal Naval Auxiliary Service lapel badge', small gilt circular, naval crowned, rope edged example, the centre with applied enamel disc depicting an exploding mine on water and titled 'R.N.X.S.'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt. London'. Good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright, minor service wear.
Height 30mm.
The RNXS was formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of the Royal Naval Mine Watching Service RNMWS and Admiralty Ferry Crew Association in response to the perceived nuclear threat to British ports. It was disbanded in 1994.
