A scarce original First World War period fine quality 'Soldiers and Saliors Families Association silver and enamel badge'; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1915 and maker's details 'B&P'(Bent & Parker) and inscribed 'No. 4581' 'Non Transferable' and 'Rd No 647623' a registration design and patent year for 1915'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, but with minor manufacturers flaws.
Height approx 35mm.
'Soldiers' and Sailors' Families Association' S.S.F.A. was founded by Major Gildea in 1885 with Queen Alexandra becoming the first president. With the creation of the Royal Air Force in 1918 the organisation changed its name in 1919 to the 'Soldiers', Sailors' & Airmen's Families Association' S.S.A.F.A.
