A good original pre-1953 period 'Soldiers, Saliors & Airmens Families Association silver plate and enamel badge'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, minor surface scratches.
Height approx 32mm.
'Soldiers' and Sailors' Families Association' S.S.F.A. was founded by Major Gildea in 1885 with Queen Alexandra becoming the first president. With the creation of the Royal Air Force in 1918 the organisation changed its name in 1919 to the 'Soldiers', Sailors' & Airmen's Families Association' S.S.A.F.A.
