WW2 Auxiliary Fire Service AFS Luton Overall Breast Badge Hertfordshire
A scarce original wartime issue Hertford volunteer firemans 'Auxiliary Fire Service home front cloth badge'; large red silk embroidered 'AFS LUTON' on navy cotton twill backing, this been worn on the breast of the overall, the reverse with black hessian lining. Very good condition, colours remain bright.
Height approx 98mm.
The 'Auxiliary Fire Service' AFS was first formed in 1938. In 1941 the 'Auxiliary Fire Service' and the local authority fire brigades were amalgamated to become the 'National Fire Service'.
