The Tanks Association Lapel Badge circa 1919

A rare original end of war period 'The Tanks Association lapel badge', superb gilt oval example inlaid with the Regimental Colours, brown, red and green enamel, the central bar depicting a First World War finely detailed gilt embossed tank; the reverse impressed with early maker's details 'FATTORINI BRADFORD'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Size approx 30 x 22mm.
On the 24th February 1919 with the official opening of their new headquarters on Horse Guards Parade the Tank Association was created. The aim of the Association was to continue the spirit and comradeship found in war and to extend it in time of peace and never forget the meaning of the Regimental Colours, that so many men fought for. The brown of the mud of the Battlefield, the red the spirit and blood of the Corps and the Green being the green fields beyond, the Tankies hope to reach.
