A scarce original circa pre 1931 period ' A.J.S. advertising lapel badge'; gilt brass oval example inlaid with dark blue enamel and bearing an early style logo; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'B'HAM MEDAL CO. BIRMINGHAM'. Good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, small surface scuff mark right lower edge. Width 29mm.
'A. J. Stevens & Co. Ltd' was a manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles in operation from 1909 to 1931 with their headquarter in Wolverhampton. After the company was sold in 1931, the name continued to be used by 'Matchless Associated Motorcycles'.
