1939 British Red Cross Society blood transfusion service medal

A scarce original Second World War period 'British Red Cross Society blood transfusion service bronzed badge, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London' and inscribed 'Awarded To' and engraved 'D.W. WAIT' 'For 10 Transfusions'. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings and box of issue dated '3 .1 .39'. Overall Height approx 77mm.
The British Red Cross Society Blood Transfusion Service badge was Instituted in 1931 and Discontinued in 1946.
