Home Guard Cold War period official women's issue pin badge
A scarce original circa 1954 post-war period 'Home Guard badge'; small white metal Crowned Order of the Garter bearing 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' motto, with embossed 'HG' initials to the centre, the reverse complete with original pin fittings to be worn by a lady member in her civilian attire. Very good condition.
Height 26mm.
Home Guard buttonhole badge was an official issue lapel badge, for wear with civilian clothes, it became available in April 1953, a version with pin fittings been added in 1954 when women were enrolled, no version with a Queen's Crown seems to have been manufactured.
