7th (Cyclist) Battalion The Welsh Regiment Badge

A very rare original circa First World War period '7th Cyclist Battalion The Welsh Regiment pin badge' small silver plated red enamel title circlet the top displaced by 'Prince of Wales' plumes with 'Ich Dien' scrolls, the voided centre bearing a cycle wheel with superimposed green enamel numeral '7' and motto scroll below 'Gwell Angau na Chywilydd' (Death rather than Dishonour); the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.GAUNT LONDON'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, minor service wear to enamel. Height 25mm.
Formed 1908 HQ at Newport Road Cardiff; amalgamated with 6th Battalion. in 1921.
