WW1 Kitchener’s Army Derby Scheme Armband

A good original First World War period 'Kitchener’s Army Derby Scheme Armband'; khaki wool example bearing large red felt sewn on crown; the inside cream cotton lining stamped in ink 'ISSUED UNDER AUTHORITY OF ARMY COUNCIL' with official issue number '116022' by the Army Council ink stamp to the wax cotton lining. Very good condition complete with original buttons, an excellent example. Length approx 43cm. Width approx 10cm. The Derby Scheme was introduced in 1915 by Herbert Kitchener's new Director General of Recruiting 'Edward Stanley 17th Earl of Derby' after which it was named. Worn by men who had volunteered to serve King and Country before the issue of a uniform.
