Widecombe Fair song sheet music promotional badge c1934

A scarce original circa 1934 period 'Widecombe Fair promotional song pin badge; silver plated example depicting a farmers grey mare horse with seven country bumpkins in character costume riding on its back; the reverse with maker's details 'H.W.Miller Ltd 118 Branston St. B'Ham' 'Regd 791733' a Registered Design and Patent date for the year 1934. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel.

'Widecombe Fair is a well-known Devon folk song about a man called Tom Pearce, whose horse dies after someone borrows it to travel to the fair in Widecombe with his friends. The chorus ends with the names of seven men travelling to the fair: Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davy, Dan'l Whiddon, Harry Hawke, Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all.
