RAF No 115 Bomber Squadron Royal Air Force Badge H.W.Miller c1940s
A very scarce original King George VI period 'No 115 Bomber Squadron Royal Air Force' gilt and enamel badge, depicting a dexter hand erased at the wrist holding a tiller and motto 'Despite The Elements', the reverse with maker's details 'H.W.Miller Ltd Branston St B'Ham.18'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.

RAF No 115 Bomber Squadron Royal Air Force origins go back to the Great War when it flew the Handley Page 0/400 heavy Bomber. Disbanded in 1919 it was reformed in 1937 and by the start of WW2 was operating the Vickers Wellington twin engined Bomber. In March 1943 it converted to the Avro Lancaster Bomber and continued operations with Bomber Command, even into the post war years surrendered the Lancaster for the Avro Lincoln in 1949. Throughout the Cold War it continued to operate until it was disbanded in 1983. In 2008 the Squadron was resurrected as a Flying Training Squadron.
