WW2 John Thornycroft Company on national service pin badge

A scarce original Second World War period 'John I.Thornycroft & Co. Limited On National Service badge'; chromium plated example bearing the companies flag logo, a 'T' within a circle, in blue and white enamel; the reverse with maker's details 'Marples & Beasley Birmingham' and impressed with official issue number '2292'. Very good condition, complete original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in good working order, no damage to the enamel.
Height 28mm.
During World War II Thornycroft built for the Royal Navy the Assault Landing Craft renamed Landing Craft Assault used by British troops at the D-Day landings 6th June 1944.
