MV Apapa Elder Dempster Line ships picture badge sunk 1940 air raid
A rare original 'MV Apapa pin brooch', the reverse impressed 'Made in England Sterling Silver Pt 202213' and crudely scratched 'APAPA AUGUST 1940'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, colours remain bright. Diameter approx 27mm.
The passenger ship 'MV Apapa' was in built 1927 for the Elder Dempster Shipping Line. On the 15th November 1940, while on voyage from Lagos to Liverpool she was bombed and sunk by german aircraft 200 miles west from Achill Head, County Mayo, Ireland.
