WW1 British Red Cross & Order of St John overseas service numbered cap badge

A scarce original First World War period 'British Red Cross military uniform cap badge, worn by personnel serving overseas'; large rectangular gilt example, bearing very bold red cross on white enamel ground; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London', offical issue number '7398' and complete with original two loop fittings and pin. Very good condition, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Size approx 48 x 40mm.
