A rare original circa First World War period well designed highly coloured fund raising celluloid tin button badge, in the form of a 'Humpty Dumpty' style character dressed in army uniform, sitting on a wall inscribed to each side 'FOR THE WOUNDED' within title surround 'NATIONAL EGG COLLECTION' 'Head Office, 154, Fleet St, E.C.'. Very good condition, complete with original single pin fitting, colours remain bright.

The National Egg Collection Patron H.M. Queen Alexandra, was a national scheme started in the First World War to supply the scarce and much needed fresh eggs to the wounded soldiers and sailors recovering in local War Hospitals, weekly appeals continued well into 1919.
