A scarce original Second World War period USA charity aid to Great Britain official 'Bundles For Britain For Meritorious Service award pin badge' hollow gilt finish example, bearing British lion and Latin motto 'Dieu et mon droit' (God and my right) superimposed over blue and white hand painted enamels with applied four star scroll below; the reverse impressed 'Sterling'. Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, painted enamel finish with minor defects.
Height 34mm.
Bundles for Britain was started in 1940 by Mrs. Latham as a knitting circle in a store front in New York. By 1941 they were shipping ambulances, surgical instruments, medicines, field-kitchen units to aid people in Great Britain bombed out of their homes.
