WW1 Queen Mary Convalescent Auxiliary Hospital Roehampton badge
A rare original Great War period 'Queen Mary Convalescent Auxiliary Hospital Roehampton' gilt and enamel badge, Crowned circlet inscribed 'Q.M.C.A.H. Roehampton' and inlaid with mauve enamel, the central with blue enamel 'M' on domed white enamel ground. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, minimal service wear.
Height 33mm.
The 'Queen Mary Convalescent Auxiliary Hospital Roehampton, London' was founded in 1915, it was named after Queen Mary who was its patron. It was established at the stately home 'Roehampton House' as a place of rehabilitation for sailors, soldiers and airmen who had lost limbs during war service.
